Submission Guidelines
The Journal for Civil and Criminal Law for Legislative Studies (JCCLLS) invites original, high-quality scholarly contributions from academicians, legal researchers, judicial officers, legislative experts, policymakers, and practitioners. Authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth review and publication process.
1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted
JCCLLS accepts the following categories of submissions:
- Original Research Articles
- Legislative Analysis Papers
- Review Articles
- Case Commentaries and Judicial Analysis
- Comparative Law Studies
- Policy Papers and Reform Proposals
- Conceptual and Theoretical Papers
- Book Reviews (by invitation or approval)
2. Originality and Exclusivity
- Manuscripts must be original and unpublished.
- Submissions must not be under consideration by another journal or publisher.
- Authors must submit a declaration confirming originality and exclusivity.
- The journal follows strict plagiarism screening standards (similarity should not exceed prescribed limits).
3. Manuscript Preparation
Language
All manuscripts must be written in clear, formal academic English.
Length
- Research Articles: 4,000–8,000 words
- Review Articles: 5,000–10,000 words
- Case Commentaries: 2,500–5,000 words
- Policy Briefs: 2,000–4,000 words
(Word count includes footnotes but excludes references, if applicable.)
Formatting Requirements
- File Format: MS Word (.doc or .docx)
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 12 pt (main text), 14 pt bold (headings)
- Line Spacing: 1.5
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- Alignment: Justified
4. Structure of the Manuscript
Manuscripts should generally follow this structure:
- Title of the Paper
- Author(s) Name(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)
- Abstract (150–250 words)
- Keywords (3–6 keywords)
- Introduction
- Literature Review (if applicable)
- Methodology (where relevant)
- Analysis / Discussion
- Conclusion
- References
For doctrinal legal papers, authors may structure sections according to thematic or statutory analysis.
5. Citation and Referencing Style
Authors must use a consistent citation format. The journal accepts:
- APA (7th Edition)
- Bluebook (for legal citations)
- OSCOLA
- Chicago Style
All cited sources must appear in the reference list (if applicable). Judicial decisions, statutes, and legislative materials must be accurately referenced.
6. Anonymous Submission for Peer Review
As JCCLLS follows a double-blind peer review process:
- The main manuscript file must not contain author names or identifying details.
- Author information should be submitted separately in a cover page or submission form.
7. Ethical Compliance
Authors are responsible for:
- Ensuring ethical integrity of research
- Obtaining necessary permissions for copyrighted materials
- Declaring any conflicts of interest
- Ensuring accuracy of legislative and judicial references
8. Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through:
- The official journal submission system (if available), or
- The official editorial email mentioned on the journal website.
Each submission must include:
- Manuscript File (anonymous version)
- Cover Page with author details
- Author Declaration Form
9. Peer Review Process
All eligible submissions undergo a double-blind peer review. Based on reviewer recommendations, the editorial decision may be:
- Accept
- Minor Revisions
- Major Revisions
- Reject
The Editor-in-Chief holds the final decision-making authority.
10. Article Processing Charges (APC)
If applicable, Article Processing Charges (APC) will be communicated to authors after manuscript acceptance. The APC does not influence the editorial decision.
11. Revision and Publication
Authors must submit revised manuscripts within the stipulated time frame. Failure to respond within the given timeline may result in withdrawal of the submission.
Upon final acceptance, the article will be prepared for publication and assigned to an upcoming issue.
